Your Daily Vocal Workout

vocal technique Jun 22, 2023

Whether you are a beginner singer or public speaker or want to improve the quality of your voice, daily vocal workouts are the key to unlocking your full potential. Like any other muscle, your vocal cords require regular exercise to stay strong, flexible, and expressive.

In this episode, we will explore a variety of vocal exercises and techniques to help you strengthen your voice, increase your range, and improve your pitch. So, let's dive in and discover the power of vocal workouts!

As a beginner singer, you must be aware of the common mistakes that can hinder your progress. One common mistake is relying solely on listening to music without paying attention to vocal techniques. While enjoying music is essential, studying and analyzing how skilled singers approach their craft is equally important.

Another mistake is needing more consistency with training. Singing is a skill that requires regular practice and dedication. With consistent training, progress can be faster.

Finally, a common mistake is not knowing which exercises to do to improve your singing.

By avoiding these mistakes and focusing on proper technique, consistent practice, and targeted exercises, you can become a more skilled and confident singer.

Here are the daily exercises that you could try:

1. Making a 'VVVV' sound from a low to a high pitch.

This exercise will stretch out your vocal cords, which will help you improve your range and flexibility.

2. Making a "Ney" sound. It has to sound as ugly as you can, like a witch if you must.

This exercise will activate your chest voice to improve the power in your voice. You will know if you are doing it right if you put a hand on your chest and feel the vibration

3. Activating chest and head voices together.

Sing the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Start using your chest voice, then change to your head voice and back to your chest voice.

4. Training our inner ear.

You need to train your inner ear to hear where the music is going and the pitch. You can do this with a melody and a "Yah" and "Yeh" sound.

Commitment, consistency, and patience are the keys to success in training your voice. Incorporating these exercises into your daily routine will gradually strengthen your voice, expand your range, and improve your pitch.
