How Singing Transformed Rudy's Life (And Can Transform Yours Too!)

podcast Feb 06, 2025

What does it take to turn a passion into something bigger? In this episode, we dive into the journey of a Rudy whose dedication, resilience, and love for music helped him overcome challenges and reach new heights. If you’ve ever struggled with motivation, consistency, or self-doubt in your singing journey, his story will inspire you to keep going.

Overcoming Challenges and Finding Strength in Music

Singing wasn’t always something I took seriously—it started as something I did while cooking in the kitchen. But when I decided to step onto a stage for the first time, everything changed. I realized that music wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way to prove to myself and others that I could achieve anything with persistence. Being autistic has its challenges, but one of my biggest strengths is my ability to create and stick to a structured plan. Every day, I rehearse, warm up my voice, and follow my vocal routine religiously. Consistency is what helps me improve, and it’s the key to progress in anything.

The Importance of Setting Goals and Sticking to Them

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that if you want to achieve something, you need a clear plan. I’ve always been someone who thrives with structure, so I set goals, make a schedule, and stick to it no matter what. I encourage anyone who has a dream to do the same. Write down your goal, hang it everywhere—your bathroom mirror, your kitchen, even your bedroom wall—so you see it every day. Tell your friends and family about your goal. When you put it out into the world, you create accountability, and that alone can keep you motivated.

What to Do When You Lose Motivation

We all have days when we don’t feel like practicing. Sometimes we’re tired, sometimes life gets in the way, and sometimes we just don’t feel inspired. On those days, I turn to meditation and visualization. I remind myself why I started, and I picture myself reaching my goal. I’ve learned that it’s okay to take breaks, but it’s not okay to give up. The key is to build habits that make it easier to stay on track, even when motivation is low.

Handling Failure and Finding Your True Strengths

Failure doesn’t mean you’re not good enough—it just means that particular thing might not be for you. I’ve tried different things in life, and some didn’t work out, but I don’t see those as failures. Instead, I ask myself: did I truly give it my all? If I did, then I can walk away knowing I tried. Not everyone is meant to be a lawyer, a doctor, or a professional athlete. But everyone has a unique strength. The key is to find what you’re naturally good at and pour your energy into that.

Turning Passion Into a Career

Now, I’m taking my singing journey to the next level. I’m launching an Instagram page to share my music and my journey. I’m also working on original songs, including one in French, because I love how my voice sounds in that language. And my biggest dream? Performing on America’s Got Talent! I know it’s a big goal, but I believe in my voice, and I know that with the right preparation and mindset, I can make it happen.

The Importance of Vocal Hygiene

One thing I’ve learned along the way is how crucial vocal health is. I take care of my voice like an athlete takes care of their body. Every morning, I drink lemon, ginger, and honey to keep my throat healthy. I avoid coffee before performances because I know it affects my stomach and energy levels. Your voice is your instrument—treat it with care, and it will serve you well.
