"Help, I Sing Off Pitch!"

mindset Jun 29, 2023

We all have moments when our singing sounds off pitch as singers. The question we ask ourselves today is this one: Is that genuinely true? What can we do to address it?

If you love to sing but think you need to be better or can't truly learn to sing those high or low notes without hoarseness, I am honoured to work with enthusiastic singers like you. Alternatively, this episode is for you if insecurities are a problem.

This week, we are going to be talking about singing off-pitch. Many enthusiastic singers think that their singing is off-pitch or out of tune. Eighty percent of the time, when someone claims to be singing flats or off-pitch, they aren't. What usually happens is they are not satisfied whenever they hear the sound of their voice while singing.

We sometimes tell ourselves:

Is it because I'm off-pitch that I don't like that sound?

Is it because I don't like the sound of my voice?

Oh, I'm flat, and I'm singing off-pitch.

Most of the time, most singers are not off-pitch. They don't like how their voice sounds, which is entirely different. They don't like their vocal colors. They tend to get caught in a vicious cycle wherein they don't concentrate on enhancing their vocal color and keep believing the issue is with the pitch.

Perfecting your pitch and harnessing voice colors go hand in hand when creating a captivating singing performance. Combining accurate pitch with skillful use of voice colors can elevate your interpretation and delivery of a song to new heights. You can achieve this by using different vocal techniques.

The most crucial vocal technique is being able to select your vocal sound. Several methods can help you, and I'll discuss them in a free training I'm hosting soon. I'm incredibly excited to meet you there! Here's the link to sign up for this free training: https://www.singinginsiders.com/30-days-to-better-singing-workshop-opt-in-page
