In this unique episode, I would love to share a fantastic online event that we had called the Confident Singer Bootcamp. A lot of passionate singers posted their songs in our private community, asked for feedback, and got results by changing one thing in their vocal technique.

In this episode, I’d love to share a little piece of it with you. If you want to be part of the next Confident Singer Bootcamp, sign up for the waitlist here to be the first one notified: https://www.singinginsiders.com/confident-singer-bootcamp-waitlist

How to find time to practice singing?

Finding the time to practice is one of the most common problems facing any singer in our hectic, fast-paced world. We must carve out time to advance as singers as it provides a goal, a precise setting, and a step-by-step strategy.

First, plan your practice week out.

Is there a period in your typical week you can and want to set aside for singing practice? The critical word here is "want," as the Dutch proverb says, "Where there is a will, there is a way."

Second, plan the duration of each practice.

It doesn't have to last hours.

Third, think of the best singing practice to get the most results.

You can sing along to your favorite music on Spotify, YouTube, or even on the radio while practicing different vocal techniques.

Four phases that you can have in your practice

Phase 1: Warmup (you can allocate 10 minutes)

Choose exercises that stretch and lengthen your vocal cords. Here are sample warmup exercises:

Lip drill

Body stretch

Activate your voice head

Tongue twisters

Phase 2: Vocal technique (you can allocate 15 minutes)

As a singer, you must work on your vocal technique by practicing various musical styles, much as ballet dancers concentrate on their body technique by refining their movements. The chest and head voices are crucial to practice either with some vocal exercises. Choose exercises that, in your experience, have the most significant impact on your voice.

Phase 3: Repertoire (you can allocate 25 minutes)

We'll put everything into a song at this point. Decide on a song or a portion of a song you would like to work on. Practice the piece and note how the melody goes and the placement of the beat. Please take note of the vocal techniques, as this is the phase where we practice all of these things.

Phase 4: Vocal cooldown

The vocal cool-down is the exact opposite of a vocal warmup. To relieve any tension, you must do a vocal cool-down to stretch out your vocal muscles. Whatever you've listed down for your vocal warmup exercises, you can use them with the call down in the opposite.

Some things take time to take hold, whether they be in the body or the mind. Your breathing, techniques, and voice muscles will improve if you establish an effective practice schedule.

Consistent practice will allow your brain to quickly grasp concepts and techniques associated with good singing! Remember to utilize a warmup routine, too.
